World's Original Marmalade Festival

Paddington, who is well known for his love of marmalade, has been made a patron of The World's Original Marmalade Festival in honour of his 50th anniversary.

  • In the week preceding the festival, Paddington will visit food halls, bakeries and schools and will even take a trip on an Ullswater steamer.
  • Over 5,000 people are expected to attend the festival over the course of the weekend.
  • Celebrities, chefs and luminaries from the Women's Institute will be judging the intense competition to win the title of best marmalade in the world. With 10 different categories, some will also be competing for Paddington’s prestigious sticky paw award!
  • There will be shopping opportunities for the adults and entertainment for the children.
  • Marmalade ice-cream will be on sale - a unique refreshment in a Cumbrian February!
  • The house and gardens will, of course, be open.
