The First Light of Christmas

On Tuesday 1st December, our favourite Peruvian bear joined radio presenter Jonathan Ross when he switched on the very first Christmas lights in Praed Street near Paddington Station in London. A large crowd gathered to witness the event, including a group of pupils from nearby Edward Wilson School. Afterwards they were entertained with carol singers, mince pies and mulled wine and a visit from Santa and his elves.
Jonathan Ross told West End Extra: 'I was delighted to be asked to help Paddington celebrate the first ever switch on of Christmas lights in Paddington. I love working here. The evening celebrations with Father Christmas, his reindeer and fabulous entertainers were a joy to see.'
Paddington was unavailable for comment. However, this was due to the fact that he was busy testing a particularly large mince pie when we tried speaking to him.
